biochemistry publishes a number of special issues in 2021/2022 highlighting cutting-edge research in the field and the magazine is excited to invite you to submit your work for consideration! These special editions are part of the magazine’s effort to demonstrate this biochemistry has expanded its scope considerably in recent years and is home to a wide range of interdisciplinary work that uses biochemical tools and techniques or provides biochemical knowledge.

Targeted degradation and autophagy – submission deadline: November 30, 2021

Led by guest editor Josh Paulk of Novartis, this issue is designed to highlight exciting work that is being done at the intersection of biochemistry, targeted degradation, and autophagy. biochemistry is pleased to announce that this will now be a joint initiative, carried out in collaboration with the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry.

Protein condensates – submission deadline: September 31, 2021

biochemistry Executive Editor Hong-Wei Wang of Tsinghua University heads this issue, which will publish novel and powerful biochemical insights into all aspects of protein condensates.

Gene Editing – Deadline: October 1, 2021

This special edition on gene editing, led by guest editor Amit Choudhary of the Broad Institute at MIT and Harvard, aims to highlight research in the revolutionary field of genome engineering; with implications from basic biochemistry to applications in the understanding and treatment of a wide variety of diseases.

Microbiome – submission deadline: October 1, 2021

Led by visiting editor Emily Balskus of Harvard University, this special edition of biochemistry invites to reports on unique biochemical insights into multiple facets of this topic, ranging from structural characterization to understanding biochemical metabolic pathways to effects on health and disease and beyond. Studies on all microbiomes (not just the human microbiome) are welcome.

Protein Engineering – Submission deadline: November 1, 2021

Guest Editor Andrew Ellington of the University of Texas at Austin will lead this special edition, which publishes the latest developments at the intersection of biochemistry with all aspects and applications of protein engineering.
