In a comment published in Morning counseling Today ACC President and CEO Chris Jahn explains why Superfund taxes on chemicals, critical minerals and metallic elements cannot be included in the bipartisan infrastructure plan being drawn up by Senate lawmakers and the Biden government.

By taxing the ingredients of basic products, Congress would ask consumers to pay more for essential items that are already beyond their household budget. At the macro level, the new taxes would increase price pressure if inflation rises as fast as it has since 2008 – 5.4 percent in June compared to the same month last year, the Labor Department reported earlier this month.
